Tuesday 14 December 2021: To mark the easing of Queensland’s borders this week, Virgin
Australia has recommenced its direct services between Adelaide and the Sunshine Coast with
the inaugural flight from Adelaide scheduled to depart at 9.50am today local time.

The year-round service has arrived just in time for summer operating four times per week and
adding an additional 5,632 seats per month allowing passengers to re-unite and re-connect
during the busy holiday period.

The new service will resume for the first time since April 2021, joining 15 additional services
introduced to the Virgin Australia domestic network since September.

Virgin Australia Group’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer Alistair Hartley said
he was pleased to expand the airline’s domestic network and provide more travel opportunities
for Queensland and South Australian passengers.

“Virgin Australia is committed to providing more ways to connect Australians, especially as we
head into Christmas. Thanks to this service, over 5000 additional passengers can now travel
between the Adelaide and the Sunshine Coast each month,” Mr Hartley said.

“It will be great to have more travellers exploring and supporting local businesses in both
states after what has been a tough eighteen months for the tourism sector. Queenslanders will
be able to enjoy South Australia’s stunning landscapes year-round, from its incredible beaches
to world-famous wine country, while the new route will allow more of our award-winning crew
to return to the skies.

“Since September Virgin Australia has added an additional 15 services to its domestic network
and we’re looking forward to seeing that grow further into 2022,” he said.

Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Brenton Cox, said he welcomed the further expansion
of the Virgin Australia network out of Adelaide to include a year-round Sunshine Coast service.

“Virgin Australia has provided terrific support for the Adelaide market with new services and
choosing Adelaide Airport as the launch location for its brand new lounge design in February,”
Mr Cox said.

“We know there’s considerable visitor demand for the Sunshine Coast with its stunning
beaches and relaxed lifestyle, while we equally expect a strong flow of Queenslanders looking
to sample all that South Australia has to offer including our wines and festival culture.”
