5DME attended th Port Augusta Aerodrome on Friday the 28th and Saturday 29th of October 2011 for the Port Augusta Aero Club’s Fly-in and Open Day. Held in conjunction with the RFDS, the day saw a dozen or more pilots and their aircraft arrive early Saturday morning and stay for the day.
The Roulettes had arrived Friday afternoon and at around 12 noon on the Saturday gave a spectacular display. 5DME had the chance to interview Roulette 7, Flt Lt Richard Morris and the video can be seen in the 5DME Video Gallery.
We would like to thank the Port Augusta Aero Club for being fantasic hosts and we hope to call in on them again at future events. They put on a great day and with all the action in the air and displays on the ground, everyone had something to look at and do all day.
Also, thanks to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) for opening the base for the day and giving the public a chance to see behind the scenes of this amazing organisation. There was a PC-12 on display in the hangar and staff to explain the various equipment. It was very informative and educational.
Lastly, we thank the Royal Australian Air Force, in particular the Roulettes and Air Force Balloon crews for without them such events might not be possible. Every team member that we spoke to was very helpful and informative.
