Coulson Next Gen Tankers Working Adelaide Fires

7th Jan 2014. Coulson Next Gen Tankers have flown in from Avalon earlier in the week to assist with the Adelaide bush fires. Luckily, there have been plenty of people out there taking photos and video. Coulson are operating one C130Q Hercules and an one RJ85 out of RAAF Edinburgh Defence Base.

The Hercules carries nearly 19,000 litres of retardant. For those who know the Erikson Air Crane, that’s nearly twice the load. The Air Crane is ideal for surgical strikes due to it’s ability to hover. The C130Q and the RJ85 can drop a large quantity over an area.

We will be including an update in the January episode of Aviation Now after the serious nature of this emergency has been controlled.
