Virgin Australia’s inaugural Hobart-Adelaide service to touch down tomorrow

Virgin Australia’s inaugural Hobart-Adelaide service will touch down at Adelaide Airport
tomorrow lunchtime with the traditional water cannon salute on arrival.

Media are invited to film the landing at 12.10pm, followed by interviews with arriving
passengers. A media conference and cake cutting with Minister for Trade and
Investment, the Hon Stephen Patterson MP, and Adelaide Airport Executive GM Finance
& Corporate, Brenton Cox will be held at 12.50pm.

Adelaide Airport will supply additional video on request of the landing and water
cannon salute shot from the tarmac.

Virgin Australia’s newest service will operate four services a week on Monday, Wednesday,
Friday and Sunday. The airline also introduced flights between Launceston and Adelaide
earlier this month, becoming the first airline to offer direct flights to two Tasmanian cities from
Adelaide.

Flights will depart Adelaide at 7.30am and depart Hobart at 10.40am using a Boeing B737.
Virgin Australia Group Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer Alistair Hartley said the
airline was pleased to be creating stronger connections between the two great cities of
Adelaide and Hobart.

“Starting today Virgin Australia will be offering 4 weekly services between Adelaide and
Hobart, before ramping up to daily flights over the busy holiday period,” said Mr Hartley.
“This new service will allow for up to 2,700 South Australians each month to travel to the Apple
Isle and experience some of the iconic attractions like Hobart’s MONA or the Salamanca
markets.

“We’re confident today’s announcement will provide a significant boost to local tourism,
connect more families in time for Christmas and allow our experienced team members to
return to the skies.

“Virgin Australia wants to assure passengers that they can book with confidence. We have
waived all applicable change fees and now allow unlimited changes for bookings for travel
between now and 30 April 2022,” he said.

Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Mark Young, congratulated Virgin Australia on the
continuing growth of its network out of Adelaide.

“Virgin Australia has further demonstrated its commitment to the Adelaide market with the
launch of this Hobart service, and follows the addition of flights from Adelaide to Cairns,
Darwin and Launceston over the past couple of months,” Mr Young said.

“Tasmania is a rapidly growing destination for South Australians, and we think there will be a
strong flow of visitors from Tasmania looking to sample all that South Australia has to offer
including our wine regions and festival culture.”

Minister for Trade and Investment Stephen Patterson welcomed the new flight route from
Virgin Australia which will give unprecedented flights access from Tasmania to South
Australia.

“We’ve seen a huge spike in interest from Tasmanians in our state, and with Virgin Australia
adding four flights per week from Hobart, on top of its recent addition of flights from
Launceston – this is boosting interstate visitation at a pivotal time,” Mr Patterson said.

“This strong support from Virgin Australia will mean an extra 700 seats into Adelaide each
week, as we head into our peak tourism season and closer to Christmas, the summer holidays
and our Mad March of festivals – generating jobs and income for South Australia’s visitor
economy.”
